At Whaler's Cove on the San Mateo Coast is a breathtaking coastal bluff with views of the Pacific Ocean, the historic Pigeon Point Light Station,
and thousands of acres of rolling hills and
bountiful wildlife.
Nestled in this bluff is POST's Council Circle, a commemorative seating area that takes its name from a traditional Native American gathering place that encouraged fellowship, the exchange of ideas, and a reverence for nature.
Consisting of a stone table and circular seating area bearing plaques engraved with the names of donors, Council Circle recognizes those who have permanently preserved this legacy of natural beauty. The seating area rests near a section of the California Coastal Trail called Mel's Lane, honoring long-time POST board member and lifelong conservationist Mel Lane.
The Council Circle recognizes donors of $100,000 or more to the Saving the Endangered Coast campaign, POST's $200 million campaign to save the Peninsula's increasingly rare, accessible rural coastline.
