Heart of The Redwoods 2012 Photo Contest
Thank you to all of the photographers who submitted entries to this year's contest. We were thrilled to see the different ways you captured the essence of our local redwoods!
With so much talent on display the judges had a welcome challenge on their hands, and we are pleased to present the results:
David Henry's stunning photo, taken inside a redwood tree at El Corte de Madera Creek Open Space Preserve, is a literal take on POST's Heart of the Redwoods theme. His prize is a photography workshop with Sebastian Kennerknecht valued at $285.
Kyrod Myatt's spectacular landscape shot captures the timeless majesty of the redwood forests of the Santa Cruz Mountains. His prize is a $150 gift certificate from Keeble & Shuchat Photography.
Steve Henry's beautiful tableau is a celebration of the color and textures of a redwood forest. His prize is a $100 gift certificate from University Art in Palo Alto.
Bert Feuss’s charismatic close-up made us smile and was a nice reminder of the wildlife dependent upon our redwood forests. His prize is a $50 gift certificate from San Jose Camera & Video.
Although not an official prize category, the judges wanted to award an honorable mention in recognition of Steve Henry’s hauntingly lovely photo of the Candelabra tree in Butano State Park.
POST would like to extend a big thank you to all of our prize sponsors for donating their services in support of our Heart of the Redwoods contest and campaign.
These photos will be featured in POST’s fall issue of Landscapes and will also be on display at University Art in Palo Alto.
