Windy Hill

The view from top of the Windy Hill Open Space Preserve reveals a landscape unlike any other: forests and silhouetted oak trees, and rolling hills from the Pacific Ocean to San Francisco Bay. This view is now enjoyed by hundreds of visitors each year, thanks to the generosity of Corte Madera Associates and the work of POST.

Corte Madera Associates originally purchased the land for development but decided to donate it to POST as a goodwill gesture. In 1981 POST transferred 635 acres of the property to the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District for half its $3 million market value and later facilitated the purchase of two additional properties to expand protection and recreational use of the preserve. Today, this popular preserve has expanded to 1,132 acres and provides unparalleled recreational opportunities for thousands of visitors each year.
