We’re excited to let you know we have finalized the lineup for our 24th Annual Wallace Stegner Lectures! The 2016 series will feature four speakers that are united by the theme of Bringing Ecology Home.
The natural world is present in everything that we do, whether we notice it or not. Ecology permeates our lives, from what we eat and where it comes from, to how we use our water, build our cities, and impact the landscape that we share with wildlife. This is especially true here on the Peninsula. The Bay Area juxtaposes a huge urban population with rural agricultural lands, redwood forests, and other protected open spaces. Preserving this unique combination is just one of the many reasons why it’s important for us to protect the natural resources and unspoiled landscapes that we have left.
The world-class speakers in the 2016 series range from a pioneering chef to a NASA scientist. Their lectures will approach this year’s theme from a variety of perspectives. Each will entertain, educate, and give you a new perspective on this place that we call home. Our speakers are:
Subscriptions to the 2016 series are available now on our website, and will be on sale through November 15. Tickets to individual lectures can be purchased starting December 1. Please note that all lectures are now on Tuesday nights and that our first lecture is at a new location, the Menlo Atherton Center for the Performing Arts. The other three lectures remain at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts. We look forward to seeing you there!
